Abstract
Automatic Exposure Control(AEC) is usually utilized in Abdomen Pelvis CT(APCT) according to attenuation profiles of patient¡¯s body. Here, it is very imperative to acquire an ideal scout image. There were a lot of research which dealt with the relationship between scout scan and AEC function. However, most studies had done fewer parameters in scout image based on a standard body size. So, we acquired the various scout images with lots of parameters such as tube voltages(80, 100, 120 kVp) and tube currents(from 10 to 80 mA) using two different size of phantoms and two manufacturers. APCT scans underwent from liver to anus portion. The dose distributions of all axial APCT images and mAs at specific portions were measured and compared. As a result, there were no significant differences of radiation dose according to all different tube currents. However, dose change had occurred at different tube voltages. In conclusion, it is very important to use same tube voltage at the scout and the APCT. Lastly, we recommend that small amount of mA should be utilized at scout scan.
